Data Modeling Case Study: A Public Sector Tale

Featuring Bao Do and Leading with Learning

Join us for a professional development evening when Brad, a long-standing member of the Chapter and active volunteer at Chapter meetings and events, will present the case study he presented at the Data Modeling Zone Conference in October.  Brad’s presentation will be an interactive session discussing his experiences, as well as yours, for moving forward and achieving Data Governance through an evolving Enterprise Architecture process in order to understand and model data.

Learning points:

  • You are not alone.  Modeling and Governance challenges occur in most organizations and take time.
  • Example Data Flow Modeling options that all mean the same thing.
  • How to approach and address modeling issues with data.



Brad Steinke is a Systems Architect at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension with 25 years of software development experience.  He is a Systems Architect focused on Data Architecture and a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) since 2008, TOGAF® 9 Certified since 2015 and a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) since 2017.  Brad attends DAMA, AEA, IASA, BAG and IIBA events when possible and assisted in writing part of the certification exam for becoming a CBAP. 

Leading with Learning

Prior to the presentation, listen to Bao Do engage you with our pre-meeting Leading with Learning.  Bao is a member of our MSP IIBA Advisory Board.  He is an Enterprise Business Architect for Wells Fargo and a previous speaker to the IIBA® Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter.

2019 Winter CBAP Study Group

Our Winter Virtual CBAP Study Group starts on Monday, January 7th.  Cost is $25 per person to help defray material costs.  The purpose of this Discussion group is to provide you with an opportunity to come together with your peers for a walk through all chapters of the BABOK® and provide you with an opportunity to try out some of the techniques outlined in the BABOK®!  There is always something new to learn whether you are new to the BA space or a seasoned Business Analyst.

Video Streaming of Chapter Meetings

Video streaming of meetings is now available to members of the IIBA Minneapolis | St. Paul Chapter.  This option is free to Chapter members and available for a $25 fee for nonmembers.  If you want to attend the December meeting via streaming option, you need to register for the meeting more than 24 hours ahead of the event by selecting a video streaming ticket.  We will email you streaming instructions the morning of the December meeting.
