What is the IIBA?

The IIBA is the International Institute for Business Analysis. It is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and has chapters around the world in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Its mission is to develop and maintain standards for the practice of business analysis and for the certification of its practitioners. The web site is www.iiba.org.

Are there local chapters in Minnesota?

Yes. The St. Paul-Minneapolis chapter is the only chapter of the IIBA currently in Minnesota. The chapter serves business analysts primarily in the Twin Cities metro area.

When are the chapter meetings held?

Chapter meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of the month except May when there is no Chapter meeting because of professional development days . Check-in begins at 5:30PM. The meeting begins at 6:20 PM. Please check the web site for the most current information on scheduled meetings.

How much does it cost to attend a meeting?

If you are a member of the St. Paul-Minneapolis chapter of the IIBA, you attend the chapter meetings for free after paying the local chapter annual dues. If you are not a member of the local chapter, the cost is $25 per meeting. 

Are food and drinks available at chapter meetings?

We have a limited selection of food and beverages available at the chapter meetings. Food selection is usually limited to finger food and/or dessert items. Beverages are often limited to water. 

How do I sign up for a chapter meeting?

Please register for chapter meetings through the chapter’s web site – www.iibamsp.org. For planning purposes, registrations should be submitted before noon the day before the meeting date. This will allow chapter leadership to plan appropriately for the number of attendees.  Click here to see information on our next event.

Can I join a chapter meeting remotely over video streaming?

Yes!  Our chapter enabled the video streaming option in 2018.  When you register for the meeting, please select the video streaming ticket option.  The morning of the meeting, you will receive an email containing the information to log into the meeting.  Registration by noon the day before the meeting is required.

What are the benefits of chapter membership?

By being a chapter member, you are able to attend the chapter member meetings without paying a per-meeting fee. Can I attend chapter meetings without becoming a member?

Absolutely. However, non-chapter members pay a fee of $25 per meeting. Payment is handled online when registering for a meeting.  Just register as a non member

What happens at a chapter meeting?

At each chapter meeting, we take a few minutes to pass on chapter news. The bulk of the meeting, however, is focused on a specific topic of interest to business analysts and is presented in a lecture or discussion format.
